Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and who we share it with.

Last updated October 2026.

This policy explains how Compare Sheds collects, uses and shares personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

When you send a project enquiry we collect your name, phone number, email address, site postcode, project type, budget range, timeframe and any project details you give us, plus the page you sent it from.

When you use the site we collect usage information through Google Analytics, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and clicks on phone numbers and websites. Our host and our spam protection (Cloudflare) process technical information such as your IP address to deliver the site and block automated abuse.

How we use and share enquiries

We use your enquiry to match your project with suitable shed builders. We share your enquiry details with up to three shed builders that suit your project type and location. Those builders may contact you by phone or email about your project, and they handle your information under their own privacy policies.

We may be paid by builders for enquiries. We don't sell your details to anyone other than builders matched to your project, and we don't use them for unrelated marketing.

We may also contact you about your enquiry, for example to confirm details or ask whether you found a builder.

Service providers and overseas disclosure

We use service providers to run the site and deliver enquiries: Cloudflare (hosting and spam protection), Google (analytics) and Resend (email delivery). Some of these store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.

How long we keep it

We retain enquiry information only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry, refer you to suitable providers, maintain appropriate business records and meet any legal obligations. Information that is no longer required is deleted or de-identified where appropriate.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us. If you're unhappy with how we've handled a privacy matter, contact us first. If we can't resolve it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
